Ringwood Manor
Ringwood Manor

Watercolor on Paper 14 x 20 Ringwood Manor was originally built by Martin J. Ryerson who ran the iron works complex in the early 1800’s. After his death the manor became the summer home for the Hewitts, one of the richest families in America in the nineteenth century. The Manor was donated to the state in 1938 and it has been a public park since. This view features the east side of the manor framed by ornamental trees.

I was honored to be an artist-in-residence at the farm in the past and continue to teach a weeklong workshop there every summer. Frederick Law Olmsted, the noted landscape architect who laid out New York City’s Central Park designed the 3,800 acres of farmland at Shelburne.
